Computer hardware technology involves working with computer equipment like chips and peripherals, from the design stage to the installation stage. Computer hardware is a collective term used to describe any of the physical components of an analog or digital computer. Computer hardware can be categorized as having either internal or external components.

Objectives

Understand the fundamental hardware components that make up a computer’s hardware and the role of each of these components.

Understand the difference between an operating system and an application program, and what each is used for in a computer.

Describe how the CPU processes data and instructions and controls the operation of all other devices.

Identify the names, distinguishing features, and units for measuring different kinds of memory and storage devices.
